Description:

A block flush is performed on a regular basis to prevent the need for a costly burner rebuild.
F
lushing the heater-block usually takes about an hour or two depending on the severity of the carbon build-up.

Why it should be done:
In the course of running your Cleanburn furnace, the heater-block is constantly being heated to warm the oil before it gets to the nozzle.  Over time the many chambers within the heater-block become clogged with carbonized oil and will, eventually, prevent the furnace from functioning.  Cleanburn recommends that the burner be rebuilt every 4000 hours of operation.

A burner rebuild takes 8 hours of work (not counting the 12 hours of ultra-sonic bathing of the block) and costs $400 plus the cost of parts.  Depending on the condition of the burner, a rebuild can cost from $500 to $800.
By flushing the block on an annual basis, this costly procedure can be avoided.

Cleanburn Preheater Block Rebuild

How it works:
We circulate a very powerful cleaning agent through the burner from the oil input all the way to the nozzle port.  This process cleans everywhere that oil flows, including the heater-block, oil regulator, solenoid and nozzle assembly.  After the flush is complete, we replace the o-rings on the burner and you're running clean for another year at a low annual cost.

Please Note that, if your burner is already in a state where a rebuild is needed, a block flush will NOT eliminate the need for a rebuild.  The flush is a preventive measure and not a replacement for a burner rebuild.  If your burner is in need of a rebuild, the annual flushes should be performed after it has been brought back to good health to prevent the need for future rebuilds.

Recommendation:
We recommend flushing the burner annually at the time that we clean out the ash from your furnace.  The price of both of these procedures can be reduced by signing our Summer Annual Service Agreement.  Please ask us for details.
We ask that you have the area around your furnace clean of debris and accessible to our technician when he arrives and allow him unobstructed access to it until he completes the job.
